5 Things You Forgot To Do After Your Last Dentist Appointment

5_Things_You_Forgot_To_Do_After_Your_Last_Dentist_Appointment

After seeing the dentist, if you’re like most people, you start out doing really well. You brushed your teeth after every meal and flossed twice a day. You followed all of your dentist’s recommendations to a tee. Now that it’s been a few weeks, you’re not quite hitting all of those suggestions you received. The following are five things you’ve probably forgotten since your last dentist appointment, so you can get back on track for better dental health.

#1: Brush After Every Meal

It’s a good idea to brush your teeth after every meal because it removes all of the food particles from them and your gums. Any food that remains can turn into plaque and lead to cavities and gingivitis. Save yourself the dental work and expense by brushing your teeth after each meal.

#2: Floss Twice a Day

Flossing at the end of the day makes sense because you get rid of all the food stuck in between your teeth. In the morning, you should floss to exercise your gums and make sure you didn’t miss anything the night before. Many times, you’ll find something that wasn’t there before, especially when you get down into your gums with the floss. Flossing also toughens up your gums to prevent gingivitis.

#3: Use Mouthwash

Mouthwashes that are meant to prevent cavities and gingivitis are great because they give you an extra dose of germ fighting fluoride. Swishing your mouth morning and night will help you keep your teeth and gums clean and healthy.

#4: Stay Away from Candy and Soda

Candy and soda are full of sugar, which can lead to cavities and tooth decay. While it’s okay to have a treat once and a while, overloading on sweets can end up causing a lot more pain and aggravation when you end up needing dental work to deal with the effects of too much sugar consumption.

#5: Make an Appointment Every 6 Months

It can be easy to forget when the last time was that you had your dentist appointment. It’s a good idea to have your St. George dentist remind you when it’s time for your 6 month checkup, so you don’t forget. You can always call your St. George dental office if you want to check on when you’re up for another appointment.

Now that you know what you need for good dental health, get back on track. If you have any questions or problems, give the best dentists in St. George Utah a call. We’re committed to helping you have a beautiful, healthy smile for life.
