We Want to Make You Smile! Let Us Help You Smile Again
There’s nothing quite like the sound a tooth makes when it gets chipped or cracked, or the instant flood of dread that fills you when you hear and feel your teeth take damage. Even worse, you may have been doing something very innocuous when your tooth became chipped or cracked.

Often, cracked or chipped teeth are associated with taking on some kind of trauma, like getting into a car accident or a particularly rowdy game of basketball. But, if there is already a weakness in your teeth, something as simple as crunching on a crisp apple can be the trigger for cracking off a piece of your tooth.

Here at Riverside Dental Care, our dentists have helped countless people repair their smiles after cracking and chipping their teeth, no matter how badly their teeth have become damaged, and we want to help you enjoy your smile again!

Why Have Your Chipped Or Cracked Teeth Fixed

It can sometimes be tempting to put off cosmetic dentistry needs as less important. But, the benefits of having your chipped or cracked teeth fixed are beyond simply cosmetic needs. Some of the main benefits of having your teeth repaired are:

  • Stop the tooth from breaking further.
  • Prevent bacteria from hiding in tooth crack or chip and causing further issues.
  • Boost your confidence with a repaired smile.
  • Protect you from painful contact with the broken or cracked areas of your teeth.

Ways Our Dentists Can Repair Your Smile

There are several ways you can have your cracked or chipped teeth repaired. Not all the methods will work depending on the severity of the damage or where it is positioned. However, here are the options our dentists can give you to repair your teeth.

Dental filling – Smaller cracks and chips can be fixed with a dental filling, especially if the damage occurred on one of your back molars. After cleaning around the damaged area, our dentists can use tooth-colored filling and cure it repair your smile.

Bonding – If all you need is minor repairs to your smile, bonding may be all you need. Our dentists can take composite resin, fill in the crack or chip, shape it, then cure the resin.

Veneers – For chips and cracks on your front teeth, having porcelain veneers placed can revitalize your smile. Using thin layers of porcelain, your damaged tooth will be shaped then covered with the veneer, which will be bonded to your tooth for a firm and secure fit.

Dental crowns – When your teeth have had a significant portion chipped off, a dental crown is the best option to repair your smile. Having a porcelain dental crown placed over a damaged tooth can provide a strong barrier to prevent further damage. Also, the color of the tooth can be matched to your other teeth for a natural look.

Extraction and implant – In some severe cases, if the tooth has become cracked down to the root, it may not be possible to save the tooth. The repair in these cases is usually extraction of the damaged tooth and to have it replaced by either a dental implant or a dental bridge.

Also, our dentists understand that cosmetic dentistry to repair chipped or cracked teeth can be an unexpected expense. To help you overcome that hurdle, Riverside Dental Care offers a range of dental financing options.

Care For Chipped Or Cracked Tooth At Home Until Your Visit

If your appointment to repair your cracked or chipped tooth is a few days off, you will want to take steps to care for your tooth until you visit our dental clinic. Some things you can do to manage the discomfort and pain until your appointment, try these things:

  • Rinse with salt water to help keep down the risk of infection.
  • When you eat, choose soft foods—soup, yogurt, applesauce, etc.—and avoid the damaged tooth.
  • Take over-the-counter painkillers to manage discomfort and pain.
  • Cover the sharp edge of a broken tooth with paraffin wax or sugarless gum.

To start your smile revitalization, you should contact us today to set up your consultation with our dentists. We look forward to helping you show off your smile again!
